First Look at Jensen Ackles, Others in The Boys Prequel Vought Rising
Amazon Prime Video has released the first images of the superpowered lead characters in Vought Rising, the prequel series and latest spinoff of The Boys. Jensen Ackles is back as Soldier Boy, joined by Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, Mason Dye as Bombsight, and Will Hochman as Torpedo.
All four images depict the character with a spotlight on them in front of a grayish background. Soldier Boy’s costume has the most superhero style, while Torpedo and Bombsight’s reflect branches of the military, and Private Angel’s has a similar theme, but with fishnets instead of pants.
Vought Rising was originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, where The Boys TV show creator Eric Kripke described it as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s.” He also stated that it will follow Soldier Boy’s early adventures and Stormfront’s “diabolical maneuvers” when she was going by Clara Vought.
Soldier Boy and Stormfront are key figures in The Boys franchise history. Soldier Boy was created by Frederick Vought during World War II, and is the first American Supe who does not age. Stormfront was Vought’s first success with Compound V and then the two got married.
Production is underway on Vought Rising. Additional cast members are Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, Brian J. Smith, Kiki Layne, and Aya Cash is reprising her role as Stormfront.
Paul Grellong is the showrunner and executive producer, along with Kripke, comic creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and several others. Ackles and Cash are also producers on the project.
Vought Rising is the fourth spinoff of The Boys. The flagship series based on the comic of the same name began in 2019, and just wrapped the fifth and final season. The franchise also includes the animated anthology The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the college set Gen V (season two begins in September 2025), and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico (produced by actors Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal).
The prequel series does not currently have a release date.
