Fans, Animals Benefit from Zoom Suit
Team Zoom, all it cost five lucky fans was a $100 donation to the Humane Society
of Florida.
John Taddeo, along with the rest of Team Zoom, came up with
the idea to auction off the chance for fans to have their last names be
incorporated into issue #3 as a play-by-play announcer at a high school football
game describes a touchdown play.
The auction closed on May 2, 2006 and
the winners, Chris Shields, Kevin Tarantino, Frank Probition, Jennifer Goguen
and Stu Berryhill, will be showcased on page 3 of the third issue of Zoom Suit.
“It’s a fun idea and supports a fantastic cause, but I wondered if it
would sell,” said Taddeo. “Eight hours later it was sold out. It’s great to team
up with fans and members of the comic book community for an important
charity.”
After the closing of the auction, Taddeo was contacted by Mike
Avila, a long-time comic fan who had missed the opportunity to bid on the
auction. Avila offered Taddeo a donation of $400 to appear as a background
character in the third issue. Taddeo instantly agreed and, after adding $100 of
his own to the auction, was able to raise a total of $1000 for the Humane
Society.
“I had read about the offer online, but by the time I got there
it was sold out,” said Avila. “As a lifelong dog-lover, I think this is awesome.
Plus, I figure this will make up for never getting a letter printed in a Marvel
Comic. Zoom Suit is making comics fun again.”
