Entertainment Treasures Presented in Heritage Auction
Heritage is hosting a Hollywood & Entertainment Auction featuring memorabilia from throughout the history of film, TV, and music. The five-day auction is scheduled for July 13-17, 2026, including some items that have never been offered at auction.
One of the headlining items is Mark Hamill’s screen-used Luke Skywalker lightsaber and severed hand effects rig from The Empire Strikes Back. The prop was used during the famous Cloud City duel with Darth Vader in which the Sith Lord revealed that he was Luke’s father. It has been preserved for decades and has never been publicly offered before now.

Switching to music, the auction has John Lennon’s handwritten manuscript lyrics for the 1964 song “If I Fell.” Lennon wrote the lyrics on the backside of a Valentine’s Day card while traveling to New York for the Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch of the West hat from The Wizard of Oz and Elsa Lanchester’s screen-matched necklace worn in Bride of Frankenstein are representing the golden age of Hollywood. Both hero rugs from The Big Lebowski are being offered publicly for the first time. A collection of Back to the Future Part II hoverboards with examples of every design seen in the film, including Marty McFly’s screen-matched pink Mattel hoverboard, is also offered.

Highlights include Gene Wilder’s photo-matched Willy Wonka top hat from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (from the collection of director Mel Stuart) and Paul Newman’s photo-matched Charlestown Chiefs hockey jersey from Slap Shot. The screen-matched hero Otto the Autopilot prop from Airplane! and the jukebox from the pottery wheel scene in Ghost (both from director Jerry Zucker’s collection) are in the auction.
“This auction represents the full spectrum of entertainment history, from Hollywood’s Golden Age to modern blockbuster cinema and the most influential moments in popular music,” Heritage Executive Vice-President Joe Maddalena said. “These are the kinds of artifacts that define generations of storytelling and rarely become available to collectors.”
