eMoviePoster Major Auction Concludes Sunday
The September Major Auction at eMoviePoster.com will conclude Sunday, September 8, 2013 with Part IV, which features 241 lobby cards, “flat package” posters, and paper-backed posters of all types. The bidding closes Sunday afternoon, following very successful results for the first three parts of the auction.
“First, Part I of our auction totaled $203,166, and Part II totaled $78,889, and both parts exceeded our expectations,” said eMoviePoster’s Bruce Hershenson. Results from Part III (and Part IV) will be featured in Scoop next week.
The one-sheet for Attack Of The 50 ft Woman sold for $19,000 (a world record price for a wonderful poster), the linen-backed, one sheet for Creature From The Black Lagoon signed by Ben Chapman realized $13,105, the style A one-sheet for Frank Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life closed at $8,265, the line-backed three-sheet for DR. NO (one we’ve never offered before) went for $4,100, a rare, linen-backed French 1p for the 1953 reissue of Gone With The Wind brought in $3,833 (incredibly rare second release French poster), and the rare, linen-backed insert for Out Of The Past (Robert Mitchum) totaled $1,975.
Part IV will be the concluding session for the September Major Auction.
Topping the list for this session are the lobby card for Frankenstein (1931, Boris Karloff and Mae Clarke), the insert for Robert Wise’s The Day The Earth Stood Still (Patricia Neal and Gort), the Australian daybill for The Creature From The Black Lagoon (Julie Adams), the insert for Invaders From Mars, the Australian daybill for The Mummy’s Tomb (Lon Chaney, Jr.), the inset for Tarantula (Jack Arnold), and the title card for the 1951 reissue of Frankenstein TC (Boris Karloff).
Also up for bid in Part IV are the rare orange style Australian one-sheet for George Miller’s Mad Max (Mel Gibson), the French 4p for From Russia With Love (Sean Connery illustrated by Boris Grinsson), the lobby card for The Maltese Falcon (Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre), the insert for Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly), the Italian 2p for Hitchcock’s Dial M For Murder (Martinati art of Grace Kelly and Ray Milland), and the insert of Some Like It Hot (Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), among others.
