Mark Millar, creator of Kick-Ass and Jupiter’s Legacy, announced that Oscar-winning writer Emerald Fennell will write the script for the film adaptation of his comic, Nemesis.

Fennell won the 2021 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the genre-bending revenge, crime thriller Promising Young Woman. Millar shared that she produced the latest draft of the screenplay for Nemesis, which follows the initial development that the late Tony Scott did on visual ideas for the project.

Nemesis was a limited series published by the Icon Comics imprint at Marvel. Written by Mark Millar with art by Steve McNiven, it puts a villain in the driver’s seat by introducing a man who has inherited billions from his deceased parents. With all the money, vehicles, and technology he could want, Nemesis pursues a plan of vengeance.

Casting and directing news, and an expected release date were not announced.
