Eight Superman DVDs This Week
excitement for next week’s theatrical release of Superman Returns by
issuing a full slate of Superman-related DVDs this week. As an added incentive
to buyers, each of the DVDs includes a free ticket to the film.
However,
consumer electronics mega-retailer Best Buy has upped the ante for Super-fans.
Each of eight different Superman DVD titles released this week purchased from
one of their stores is packaged with a Best Buy Exclusive Superman
reprint mini-comic. To spice things up even more, each DVD features a
different cover on the enclosed comic book (although the interiors are
identical). The covers feature the work of such artists as Alex Ross, Jim Lee,
Michael Turner, and others.
The story reprinted is writer-artist John
Byrne’s landmark tale from 1986’s Superman: The Man of Steel #1, the
first issue of the 6-issue limited series that updated and revamped Superman’s
origin and his cast of characters following the cataclysmic events of DC Comics’
multiverse-shattering epic Crisis on Infinite Earths. The reboot in
Superman: The Man of Steel served as the template for the next 20 years
of Superman stories.
For those interested in acquiring one or more of
these exclusive mini-comics, go to your local Best Buy store and look for the
following titles:
• Adventures of Superman Seasons 3 & 4
(The George Reeves series)
• Krypto the Superdog Volume 1
(Cartoon Network‘s animated kids’ show)
• Lois and Clark
Season 3 (With Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher)
• Justice League
Season 2 (The animated hit series)
• Superboy Season 1 (The
1988-89 season of the syndicated series)
• Superman: The Animated
Series Volume 3 (featuring the voices of Tim Daly and Dana Delaney as
Clark/Superman and Lois)
• Superman: Brainiac Attacks (an
all-new animated feature reuniting the voice cast of Superman: The Animated
Series)
• Superman 1st Season 3-Pack (Featuring
the premiere seasons of Smallville, Lois & Clark, and Adventures
of Superman).
