The inaugural installment of the Edge Comic-Con, a new comic book convention geared for the south central Wisconsin and northern Illinois area, is set to takes place Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Edgerton, Wisconsin at the Tri-CountyCommunity Center.

The convention will feature toys, comics, anime, food, artists, drawings, a charity auction, sidewalk art and a costume contest. The guest list includes Tiny Titans writer-artist Art Baltazar and Star Wars writer John Jackson Miller (two of our favorites) and others.

“We have scheduled Edge Comic-Con to take place on the same date as Edgerton’s Chilimania, the Midwest’s largest chili cook-off competition. Chilimania attracts 2,000+ visitors to downtown Edgerton each year and we are working with their organizers to cross-promote Edge Comic-Con,” said Mark Christensen, founder of Edge Comic Con.

Christensen said he is presently recruiting artists, writers and exhibitors.

“In my experience as a comic and game store owner in California and Wisconsin, I have attended San Diego Comic-Con, Wizard World Chicago, and other regional shows. My goal with Edge Comic-Con is to bring a big show on a smaller scale to central Wisconsin,” he said.

For additional details, check the convention’s website.
