Dracula Fights Nazis in Operation: Iron Coffin
Dracula is back and wants to redeem himself by taking on a fleet of human monsters in Operation: Iron Coffin. The horror/action book is written by Kenny Porter (War Wolf) with art by Tyrell Cannon (The Schlub). It is being published under IDW’s horror-focused imprint, IDW Dark, and will take its first bite in July 2026.
The story begins when the king of the vampires is resurrected and seeks redemption for what he’s done in the past. To do that, he teams up with British Allied forces during World War II to help fight their enemies. The plan is to airdrop him onto a Nazi train carrying soldiers, augmented people, and a vampire plague capable of creating “a new generation of vampire terrors,” according to the synopsis.
Dracula will face the horrors of his past while creating new ones on the train. Eventually, he will come up against Hazel and Ivy, the ones who are leading the Nazis and who have their own interest in seeing Dracula go down.
“For longtime fans of Dracula and the vampire genre as a whole, Operation: Iron Coffin is going to take that concept in a brand-new, pulpy, and very gory direction,” Porter said. “If John Wick had been a horror film starring Dracula, this would be the book it was adapted from. At my core, I’m a horror fan, and this book is everything I want to see in an occult World War II thriller.”
“Operation: Iron Coffin is the perfect vortex of things I love: horror movies, ‘90s anime, and frenetic action comics,” Cannon added. “I’m cranking the gore and action up to the max. We have a wild ride for you, so jump on board and let’s kill some Nazis!”
For Operation: Iron Coffin #1, Cannon provided cover A, Juan Ferreyra did cover B, there’s a 1 in 15 variant by Edison Neo, and a 1 in 25 variant by Serena Mercado. The first issue will be in comic shops on July 28.
