Doctor Who Gets Season 11 Premiere Date
Ever since Jodie Whittaker made her debut as the Doctor during the 2017 Christmas special, fans have been eagerly awaiting the official arrival of Doctor Who season 11. Now, BBC has revealed that the franchise’s first-ever female lead will command the TARDIS beginning Sunday, October, 7, 2018.
Not only will this mark the formal introduction of Whittaker, but it will also be moving the series from Saturday to Sunday. The season 11 premiere will be timed to the UK broadcast, followed by a primetime encore in its yet to be announced Sunday time slot.
According to the basic cabler, the premiere episode is entitled “The Woman Who Fell to Earth.” Apropos given that when we saw Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord regenerate into Whittaker, the TARDIS appeared to be crashing.
Season 11, led by new showrunner Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch), stars Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor alongside her new companions Bradley Walsh (Law & Order: UK) as Graham, Tosin Cole (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Ryan, and Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks) as Yasmin. Sharon D. Clarke (Holby City) has also ben tapped for an unspecified “returning role.”
