DMZ Gets First Trailer, Streaming Date
What does a mother do when her community becomes a warzone cut off from the rest of the country, but evacuating with fellow citizens means leaving her son behind? She stays to find him.
In the first trailer for DMZ, based on the DC/Vertigo comic by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, viewers meet that mother, Alma Ortega, played by Rosario Dawson. Set in the demilitarized zone of Manhattan after the second Civil War, she traverses the dangerous neighborhoods now ruled by gun-toting gangs, militias, and warlords. Though her goal is to find her son, Alma is also a medic who tries to help people in need, which puts her in danger with Manhattan’s new power players.
DMZ is a four-episode miniseries led by Ava DuVernay (When They See Us, Naomi). Benjamin Bratt joins Dawson as Parco Delgado, one of the gang leaders, along with Hoon Lee, Jordan Preston Carter, Venus Ariel, and Reynaldo Gallegos.
DMZ starts streaming on March 17, 2022.
