Disney will be entering the venue of online streaming services with their own platform in 2019 – and it will be called “Disney Play,” according to a report by Variety. Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that the service will be the company’s top priority next year, and has also implied that the cost per month to use the platform will be less than Netflix’s current monthly rate of $8.99.

Disney currently earns more than $300 million through its agreement with Netflix, which will be ending in 2019, with all Disney-distributed films moving over to the company’s own service. The only series set to remain at Netflix right now are the Marvel shows (such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders).

The company will be launching original programming exclusively on Disney Play, including a new Star Wars series and a Monsters, Inc. show. Disney Play is also expected to carry a number of heavy hitters from the 2019 movie lineup, such as Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, and the live-action Lion King.

There’s no exact launch date for the Disney Play service, but Iger has mentioned in previous interviews that Disney is aiming for a fall 2019 release.
