sTwo weeks ago on Saturday, February 9, 2008, Dan Morphy’s Antique Toy, Doll, Holiday and Advertising Show took place. Set at the York Fairgrounds in York, Pennsylvania the show went from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The show is starting 2008 strong for Geppi’s Entertainment’s Morphy Auctions, as Chief Operating Officer Dan Morphy expressed, “The show was one of the strongest shows we have had in several years.”

A little over 600 people attended the show with more than 100 dealers set up. Dealers included Morphy Auctions, Hake’s Americana, Jeanne and Rich Bertoia of Bertoia Auctions, Mike Caffarella, Irene and Carter Davis, Joe Freeman, Donna Haring, Don Heim, David Little, Nancy McGlamery, Barbara and Bob Pierce, Tom Sage Sr., Sal Silvestro, Laura Turner, Jim Yeager, and many more. A large number of new toy and ad dealers, some of whom had never been to the show, from as far as Kansas City, the Midwest, and a few from California attended.

Buyers and sellers worked well together at the show. Early buyer and dealer to dealer pre-show buying was successful. Morphy informed Scoop that a lot of active buying took place throughout the setup and the show on Saturday. While there, Morphy Auctions procured a very rare box of 100 marbles made by the Christenson Agate company.

Dealers featured many great collections during the show. Morphy Auctions showcased toys that will be in their April sale, along with providing a glimpse of the dolls that will be in their first doll-only sale under the careful direction of Becky and Andy Ourant. Pleased with the turn out, Dan Morphy said, “It seemed to me that there was almost a resurgence of dealers and activity in comparison to shows the past couple of years.”
