DC Announces New Wave of Next Level Titles
DC’s Next Level publishing initiative is expanding with Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and The Doom Patrol. The three new team books are set to debut on the same day in September 2026. They join recent Next Level titles that include Batwoman, Lobo, Deathstroke: The Terminator, Firestorm, Zatanna, Barbara Gordon: Breakout, and The Deadman. The Next Level books run alongside DC ongoing and limited series in their main universe and the Absolute universe.
“These books are set in continuity,” DC co-architect Josh Williamson said. “While the series will be independent reads and not heavily tied to other books, they will exist alongside DC’s ongoing comic book series like Superman, Batman, Justice League Unlimited, and more.”
“The DC Next Level books are very new-reader friendly and will roll out over time,” DC co-architect Scott Snyder said. “Like the Absolute line, this is an initiative that welcomes new readers looking for a jumping-on spot for DC’s main line of comic books.”

Legion of Superheroes is set in the future when superheroes have been outlawed and enforcers called Persuaders monitor the population of the United Planets. When R.J. Brande is murdered, Brainiac 1 of 5 tries to solve the murder and build a legion of young rebels to save the future. The book is written by Williamson (Superman), with art and main cover by Hayden Sherman (Absolute Wonder Woman), with variant covers by Jim Lee (cardstock and foil), Mark Spears, Yasmine Putri, Hayden Sherman, Dan Mora (with a Michael J. Fox cameo), and V. Ken Marion (1:25).

Teen Titans kicks off with Fairplay, Cheshire Cat, Proxy, and Wildcard seeking help from Red Hood. One of their teammates went missing during an Ascend rally that is training kids how to survive a world rife with conflicts between superpowered beings. Working together will prove difficult since Jason Todd thinks they are soft and the Teen Titans don’t agree with his penchant for killing people. The book is written Kyle Higgins and illustrated by Daniele Di Nicuolo (the team behind Image’s Massive-Verse). It has a main cover by Di Nicuolo, and variant covers by Dan Mora (card stock and foil), Jim Cheung, Sanford Greene (1:25), and Hayden Sherman (Next Level), plus a card stock blank sketch cover.

Doom Patrol starts with the team broke and operating as a heroes for hire. They take a simple case of finding a missing cat, but it quickly proves more complicated and “the world’s strangest heroes find themselves pulled into a truly out of this world situation,” per the synopsis. If that wasn’t enough, a ghost from the team’s past is planning to enter their world. It is written by Darcy Van Poelgeest (Little Bird) with art and main cover by Niko Henrichon (Spectators). The first issue comes with variant covers by Clayton Crain (card stock and foil), Ian Bertram, Ashley Wood (1:25), and Hayden Sherman (Next Level).
All three books are scheduled to arrive in comic shops on September 2.
