Dark Horse to Publish Creepy Artist Collections
Dark Horse Books is presenting the collected Creepy works of creators like Alex Toth, Bernie Wrightson, Richard Corben, Steve Ditko, and others in new paperback editions. Each edition will showcase the work of an individual artist that appeared in Creepy and Eerie magazines. Creepy Presents: Alex Toth and Creepy Presents: Bernie Wrightson will be in stores in late 2025 and early 2026 with the others arriving later.
Creepy is a black and white horror comic magazine introduced by Warren Publishing in 1964. Since magazines weren’t subject to the restrictive rules of the Comics Code Authority, Creepy provided horror fans with the type of stories that used to appear in popular EC comics before they were censored.
Creepy Presents: Alex Toth is a collection of tales that “will thrill, educate, and excite fans of horror, comics, and stellar illustration work,” per Dark Horse’s description. It opens with an introduction by Douglas Wolk (Reading Comics: How Graphic Novels Work and What They Mean), and features collaborations with Archie Goodwin, Doug Moench, Carmine Infantino, and others.
Creepy Presents: Bernie Wrightson is filled with original stories and adaptations written and drawn by Wrightson in the 1970s. It starts with an introduction by Bruce Jones, and contains collaborations with Howard Chaykin, Nicola Cuti, Bill DuBay, Carmine Infantino, Bruce Jones, Budd Lewis, and Walt Simonson. The collection includes “Jenifer,” the full-color “The Muck Monster,” and adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft stories.
Creepy Presents: Alex Toth will be in stores on December 2, and Creepy Presents: Bernie Wrightson arrives on February 3.
