Celebrity guests included Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Quinn Lord (Trick ‘r Treat), Brian Andrews (Halloween), Eihi Shina (Audition), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Terrance Zdunich (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Kate Norby and Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Charlie Kraslavsky and Greg Smith (Resident Evil video game), Anne Marie McEvoy and Robby Kiger (Children of the Corn), Jim Krut (Dawn of the Dead), Brian Keene (horror author), Linda Jo Miller (King Kong Escapes), J.J. Trulock (Resurrection), Brandon Salisbury (George A. Romero’s Resident Evil), Aurelio Voltaire (The Dominatrix), and Jason Seaux (Necro-Man). (Check out interviews with Jeffrey Combs and Brian Keene in our Spotlight section.)
The convention hosted a Toxic Avenger reunion with Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman, and stars Mitch Cohen, Mark Torgl, Jennifer Babtist, Robert Prichard, Gary Schneider, and Cindy Manion.
Quinn Lord, Eihi Shina, Kate Norby, and Mark Torgl did in-costume photo ops, and Jeffrey Combs did a special laboratory photo-op.
Convention promotors Craig and Sandy Yastrzemski differentiate Creature Feature Weekend from other horror cons by providing a variety of activities that attendees can enjoy, in addition to shopping and meeting celebrity guests. Children were invited to go trick ‘r treating throughout the vendor areas on Saturday afternoon and karaoke was held on Friday and Saturday nights at the hotel.
Some of the events were held at the movie theater located in the same complex as the hotel and just a short walk across the parking lot. The theater showed Toxic Avenger with live commentary, and they showed independent short films throughout the weekend. Here Comes the Milkman filmmaker Justin Adams told Scoop that the short film festival had a good crowd and that his film received positive feedback from the audience.
The celebrity panels were also held at the theater with Jeffrey Combs, the cast of Toxic Avenger, Quinn Lord, and the Resident Evil video game performers. Aurelio Voltaire and Terrance Zdunich performed in concert, there was a Black Hills night hike, a costume contest, and paint night.
Gemstone Publishing and Hake’s Auctions sponsored the convention with Scares That Care, who hosted a charity auction. Gemstone Editor – Digital sold The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Horror and other “how to” reference guides like The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Movie Posters and The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Video Games. Hake’s Auctions Senior Consignment Manager Mike Bollinger promoted their premier Auction #246 and met with attendees to discuss consigning to future auctions in 2026.
Vendors sold horror action figures, statues, and busts; DVDs, Blu-rays, and VHS; comics, magazines, and posters. Some had t-shirts, hoodies, flannels, winter hats, baseball hats, patches, pins, and magnets. Artists sold prints, posters, wooden signs, paintings, and authors sold their books. Others offered homemade items like pop culture travel mugs, knit hats, jewelry, and a variety of knickknacks. There was also a room dedicated to tattooing.
Food trucks were located right outside the main convention space, selling burgers, fries, hotdogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and other comfort food, and a bar was located at the end of one vendor hallway.
The general tone of the con is one of community, which is something that can get lost at bigger conventions. There are many opportunities for the guests, attendees, and vendors to hang out together beyond the convention floor. Attendees can enjoy different types of activities, giving them a full weekend experience of horror genre entertainment. Creature Feature Weekend is a fun, engaging convention that celebrates horror and the camaraderie of the fandom.
