The majority of the vendors at Baltimore Comic-Con are comic-focused. The large list of comic vendors included Anthony’s Comic Book Art, Basement Comics, Cards, Comics & Collectibles, Cryogenic Comics, Gem City Books, Harley Yee Rare Comics, Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find, HighGradeComics.com, Reece’s Rare Comics, Superworld Comics, Third Eye Comics, and Victory Comics. Publishers Bad Idea and Zenescope were there, and auction houses were represented by ComicConnect, ComicLink, and Heritage Auctions. The Hero Initiative, MyComicShop, and CGC were also at the show.
The comic vendors sold books for every collector, with Golden Age keys to Modern Age favorites. They had boxes upon boxes of $1 to $10 issues, many keys in most price ranges, and some keys priced in the thousands. Superhero books were joined by science fiction, horror, crime, Western, romance, and family-friendly titles. Outside of the artist alley, Baltimore Comic-Con had a large area dedicated to indie artists, comic writers, and novelists.
Other vendors sold a lot of items outside of comics. They had the latest action figures from DC and Marvel, vintage Star Wars and G.I. Joe, and wrestling figures, Funko Pops, statues, t-shirts, art prints, dice and other gaming supplies, video games, prop weapons, stuffed animals, LEGOs, leatherworks, neon signs, wood carvings, and many other types of collectibles.
There were hours of panels each day of the con that put the spotlight on comic creators and media guests, plus tutorials and other fun celebrations of comics and fandom. Panels celebrated creators like Jeff Smith, Chip Kidd and Michael Cho, Stan Sakai, Chris Claremont, Howard Chaykin, and Tom King, and celebrity guests Carl Lumbly, Bonnie Wright, James and Oliver Phelps, and X-Men: The Animated Series voice actors. There were artist portfolio reviews, 35 years of Breathtaker, comic book couples, post-apocalyptic titles, Oni Comics spotlight, diversity in cosplay, 90 years of DC, remembrance of Jim Shooter, a writer roundtable, Fantastic Four comics and films, and many more.
It was another successful year at Baltimore Comic-Con with vendors reporting good sales, cosplayers showing off their best costumes, and comic fans getting the opportunity to meet their favorite creators and purchase many new books.
