ComicLink Adds High Grade Silver Age DC Keys to Auction
The upcoming ComicLink Fall Featured Auction in November 2025 has added two impressive DC early Silver Age high grade keys to its still growing auction preview. Among the early additions to the auction are Showcase #4 CGC 9.0, featuring the historic 1956 first appearance and origin of the Silver Age Flash Barry Allen, and Brave and the Bold #28 CGC 9.2, featuring the first gathering of the Justice League of America.
“This beautiful example of Showcase #4, the comic book that launched the Silver Age era, is certified at Very Fine/Near Mint CGC 9.0, the single finest unrestored example that we have ever offered in our decades of holding ComicLink auctions,” ComicLink founder and Managing Director Josh Nathanson said. “It’s one of just three in grade and among more than 400 examples graded by CGC it’s one of the top eight graded overall. It cannot be overstated that examples of Showcase #4 like this only hit the auction market on only very rare occasions – it’s one of the finest examples any collector could ever hope to acquire. The colors are outstanding, and it has retained supple, Off-White Pages.”
“Along with Showcase #4, Brave and the Bold #28 is one of the most important Silver Age DC comic books ever published. For the first time in the Silver Age, popular heroes were brought together and united on one team,” Nathanson said. “The Justice League of America were featured within issues 28-30 and then transferred over to a title bearing the team’s name with issue 1. The JLA have been an important part of the comic book world ever since! This is one of the top six graded overall for Brave and the Bold #28. There are only three other examples at the 9.2 tier, with just a single 9.4 and a single 9.6 above it. This example has retained supple Off-White to White Pages.”
In addition to the Fall Featured Auction that starts on November 14, other upcoming auction consignment opportunities include the Focused Auction that begins on September 12, and another Focused Auction opening October 17 (a preview will post soon).
ComicLink is seeking comic books, original art, and other certified collectibles for future auctions. Potential consigners can email a prospective auction list to buysell@comiclink.com or call (617) 517-0062 (option 1). Upfront cash advances are being offered upon receipt. There are also other ways to sell, including the ComicLink Exchange, private placement brokerage, and ComicLink purchases outright if that is the preferred selling method.
