ComicConnect to Host “Death of Superman” Art Auction
ComicConnect has announced the “Death of Superman” Special Edition Art Auction offering the near-complete art by Dan Jurgens that appeared in Superman #75. The auction begins Thursday, March 19, 2026.
This key issue killed off Superman and set up the continuing “Funeral for a Friend” and “Reign of the Supermen” crossover stories that ran between many popular DC titles. Superman #75 sold over six million copies, as Jurgens’ art became the cornerstone for one of the most successful comic events of all time.
Much of the original art from the “Death of Superman” stories has since been acquired by collectors, with the original pages presented here becoming available for the first time since 1993.
ComicConnect’s Vincent Zurzolo and Original Art Coordinator Micah Spivak will present original art from both Event Auction 65 and the “Death of Superman” Special Edition Art Auction at the Original Art Expo in Orlando, Florida. They can be found in booths 108-109 in the Universal Room at the DoubleTree by Hilton on February 20-22. They will meet with consignors as ComicConnect prepares for future auctions in 2026.
Friday, February 13 is the last day for sellers to join Event Auction 65. Original art consignors can reach out to Micah Spivak at micahs@comicconnect.com, sellers can also contact Peter Barbella at peterb@comicconnect.com, or call (212) 260-4147 and toll free at (888) 779-7377.
