ComicConnect just wrapped up their record-setting Event Auction 67, and now they are moving into the start of their Special Edition Amazing Spider-Man Original Art Auction.

ComicConnect is presenting Gil Kane and John Romita’s pages from Amazing Spider-Man #96 and #97. These issues made history as the first mainstream comics to be published in the ‘60s without clearance from the Comics Code Authority. Stan Lee decided to release these books without the Authority’s approval, focusing on Harry Osborn’s drug addiction as part of a new Green Goblin storyline. Spidey also deals with the dangers of drug abuse on Manhattan’s streets.

The Special Edition Amazing Spider-Man Original Art Auction is open for bidding on September 17, 2026. This is the first time that these pages have been available to collectors. The lots also include a page from Romita’s debut on the title in Amazing Spider-Man #39 when Green Goblin first discovered Spider-Man’s secret identity.

Metropolis/ComicConnect will be exhibiting pages from the Special Edition Amazing Spider-Man Original Art Auction at Baltimore Comic-Con. They will be located at booth 912 in the Baltimore Convention Center on September 25-27. Metropolis/ComicConnect will showcase other rare original art pieces and comics, and their staff can meet with consigners.

This Special Edition Auction follows ComicConnect’s record-setting sales in the “Death of Superman” Original Art Auction. Not only do these early issues feature art by industry greats, they were written by Stan Lee who was close to the end of his 100-issue run on the title.
