ComicConnect Event Auction #55 Begins July 31
ComicConnect’s Event Auction #55 begins Monday, July 31, 2023, at 12 PM ET. “In our next auction, we’re proud to offer an original owner copy of Superman #1,” ComicConnect President Vincent Zurzolo said. “In addition to the mind-blowing Bobby Blue Collection, plus the incredible Lost Jerry Siegel Letters, investment collectors and rarity hounds will need to plan ahead.”
“The comics offered in the Bobby Blue Collection are rivaled only by the incredible story of a loving World War II-era father buying a weekly comic for his newborn son,” Zurzolo said. “The breadth and depth of this collection is impressive, evidenced by an example from nearly every comic genre.”
Highlights include Sensation Comics #1, Pep Comics #22, Captain America Comics #46, All Select Comics #1, Mask Comics #1, Marvel Family #1, Chamber of Chills #19, Tales of Terror Annual #1, and Detective Comics #73.
The Lost Jerry Siegel Letters are represented by over two dozen letters written to and from Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel. “The letters come almost as a time capsule telling another side to one of the greatest stories ever told,” Zurzolo said. “This is a rare chance to own a true piece of comic history.”
More Golden Age highlights include All Star Comics #8 (first Wonder Woman), Detective Comics #168 (Joker origin), More Fun Comics #73 (first Aquaman and Green Arrow), and Captain America Comics #74.
Silver, Bronze, and Modern keys include Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spider-Man #1, Black Knight #1, Fantastic Four #48 9.8 Stan Lee Signature, Hero for Hire #1 9.8, Iron Man #55 9.8, Journey into Mystery #1, Sgt. Fury #1 9.0, Tales of Suspense #39, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 9.8, and X-Men #1. The international comics auction will be bigger than ever with nearly 200 lots available from every comic age.
The original art section is highlighted by a John Buscema splash from Silver Surfer: Judgment Day, Jim Aparo’s cover for Brave and the Bold #160, the Art Thibert cover for Cable #2, an Andru/Esposito page from Giant-Size Spider-Man #4, and the Rich Buckler cover to Brave and the Bold #178. ComicConnect is also promoting the Lake Como Charity Artist Jam.
Collectors will also find pulps, certified VHS tapes and videogames, and autographed memorabilia. Consignors still have a small window to add to the auction by emailing robr@comicconnect.com with any questions or calling toll free (888) 779-7377.
