The secondary comic market regularly ebbs and flows as book sales go through moderate changes, and occasionally see big jumps (or falls) in value. Overstreet Access tracks these changes through diligent research into the market and via assessment of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide marketing reports. Those changes are routinely updated on OverstreetAccess.com’s Recent Value Changes page, which can be viewed with a membership to the website.

One of the cutest characters introduced in the 2010s has seen a significant rise in value.  Overstreet Pricing Editor Yolanda Ramirez has noted that Jeff the Land Shark’s cameo first appearance and official debut are both going up in price on the secondary market.

Jeff Land Shark is exactly that – a shark that lives on land (and has feet). Created by Kelly Thompson and Daniele di Nicuolo, Jeff is a pet for Gwen Poole and Kate Bishop, who has also spent time with Wade Wilson and Elsa Bloodstone. During his short tenure in comics, Jeff has appeared in West Coast Avengers and other print comics, he starred in the It’s Jeff digital comic, was a playable character in the Marvel Rivals video game, and he recently had his own limited series, Jeff the Land Shark.

Jeff made a cameo in West Coast Avengers #6 (February 2019), and a recent valuation update has seen the 9.2/Near Mint- value rise to $35, marking a 775% increase. Jeff the Land Shark’s first full appearance in West Coast Avengers #7 (March 2019) in 9.2/Near Mint- is now valued at $150, showing a huge increase of 3,650%.

By comparison, West Coast Avengers #1 (October 2018) at a 9.2 grade is only a $10 book. The rest of the series’ 10-issue run at Near Mint- is valued at $4 per issue.
