A collection of Andy Warhol paintings was stolen from a private residence in Los Angeles, California last week, CNN has reported.

The Los Angeles Police Department on Friday described the stolen pieces as large pop-art portraits of several famous athletes, including Muhammad Ali, Chris Evert, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pelé and Tom Seaver.

The collection, valued in the millions, had been displayed in the dining room of Richard Weisman, a Los Angeles businessman whose portait is among the missing items, CNN reported.  

A $1 million reward has been offered.
