Did you know that Classic Comics once released a series of gift boxes featuring esteemed and historical literary works? The Giant Classic Comics Library Gift Box series advertised "five complete books by the immortal masters of literature with 340 thrilling pages in comic strip form and (in the first series) over 2,200 four-color illustrations."

Series A presents the work of Scott, Dickens, Cooper, Dumas and Melville.

Series B boasts Robinson Crusoe, Les Miserables, Robin Hood, Arabian Nights and A Tale of Two Cities.

Series C touts Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Westward Ho!, Don Quixote, Uncle Tom’s Cabin and Rip Van Winkle and the Headless Horseman.

Series D presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Huckleberry Finn, The Corsican Brothers, The Deerslayer and Gulliver’s Travels.

Though the boxes state Gilberton Company of New York as the publisher, they do not display a production or copyright date. We thought you’d like to see full-color examples of the boxes and the detailed illustrations shown on each.
