The Haunting of Hill House show creator Mike Flanagan is working on a Netflix adaptation of Christopher Pike’s novel The Midnight Club.

In The Midnight Club (published in 1994), a group of terminally ill teenagers living at a hospice called Rotterdam Home gather at midnight to tell scary stories. Soon they make a pact that whichever of them dies first will try to contact the others from the other side.

From the late ’80s and through the early 2000s, Pike wrote dozens of young adult horror novels, including popular titles like The Chain Letter, Fall Into Darkness, The Thirst, Slumber Party, and Monster. It is expected that the Netflix series will utilize stories from Pike’s other books.

Flanagan will create the TV series with Leah Fong and will serve as an executive producer. The pair previously worked together on the critically praised The Haunting of Hill House and on the upcoming second season titled, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
