Star Trek actor Chris Pine has confirmed that he’ll be in the upcoming, highly anticipated Wonder Woman movie. For months it has been rumored that he’ll be in the movie. The news was announced while Pine was giving an interview with French website Premiere.

“I do not really know what I’m allowed to tell you. I’m super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will direct, and we will shoot in traditional film,” Pine said. “What excites me most is to work on a movie with a female superhero; with a woman in the lead role. I am part of a team with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to destroy the wicked and save humanity.”

The assumption is that Pine will play Wonder Woman’s partner and love interest Steve Trevor. In the Wonder Woman mythos, Trevor is the love interest of Diana Prince and a military man with field experience. When DC rebooted their books a few years ago, Trevor became a spy and government agent who acts as a liaison to the Justice League.

Wonder Woman is set for a release date of June 23, 2017. Gadot (Fast Five) will debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Jenkins (Monster) will be direct Wonder Woman with Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) writing the script.
