A copy of Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC-certified 9.8 recently sold for $8,800 on eBay. The Bronze Age Marvel comic was written by Len Wein and illustrated by Dave Cockrum. With off-white to white pages it includes the first appearance of the new X-Men as a team and the second full appearance of Wolverine. 

The X-Men, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, made their first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #1 in September 1963. They are a group of super powered mutants who have changed through a sudden leap in human evolution. As the X-Men they work to protect the mutant community and the rest of the world from both types of threats.
