CBCS Teams with CSA Comics for Autographs
Comic Book Certification Service (CBCS), Steve Borock’s new third party, independent grading company, has announced a new program, the Verified Signature Program (VSP), for which they have partnered with CSA Comics, a company that only authenticates comic book creators’ signatures (this includes signatures of artists, writers, inkers and creators).
CBCS said that VSP is different that other signature certification in that it does not require a witness to be present for the signature, and instead allows collectors who have had comics signed over the years verified without risking a lower or “qualified” grade.
CSA Comics will authenticate each signature with their state-of-the-art Characteristic Signature Matching (CSM) system. The staff at CSA Comics has amassed a comic book signature library of over 10,000 signatures for reference.
Once evaluated by CSA Comics and then CBCS, the comics will then be encapsulated by CBCS with their new red CBCS Verified Signature label, which will note that the signatures were independently authenticated.
“We have finally found a partner that we can work with that has the same ethics, integrity, and love for the hobby we at CSA have,” said David Roman, President of CSA “We could not be more happy!”
“CBCS has been looking into this kind of program since we first started thinking about CBCS,” said Borock, the company’s President and Primary Grader. “We can’t believe it’s come true! We spent so much time finding out if CSA was the real deal and, sure enough, they are!”
Borock said the field has been in need of this type of service for years.
“Collectors have been getting their favorite creators to sign their comic books long before grading companies existed. Some of these books were signed by creators who are sadly no longer with us, including greats like Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Al Williamson, and Bob Kane among others, while other comics have been signed by other greats that are still around, such as Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jim Lee, Alan Moore, Adam Hughes, Bernie Wrightson, Neal Adams, Todd McFarlane, Gabriele Dell’otto and so many, many more,” he said.
“We look forward to helping collectors bring legitimacy to these signed books, allowing them to take their rightful place in their certified collections,” he said.
CBCS will be set up at Wizard World Chicago over the August 22-24, 2014 weekend. More information is also available at visit www.CSAcomics.com.
