Jerry Weist’s second Carl Barks Estate auction is presently underway on eBay.

Weist said this auction has a deeper range of content from the first auction, and this time around, the offerings include original preliminary drawings and paintings for Donald Duck and Scrooge themes, as well as finished early 1960s Barks paintings of Church, Indian, and other themes.

The auction also includes rare prints and artist proof prints from Barks’ archives, remarkable and rare early letters from Barks files including the Don and Maggie Thompson correspondence, scarce original, hand-written manuscripts to his stories, paint brushes, and ink pens, palettes from his 1940s and 1950s private studio.

Also featured are rare Walt Disney 1937, 1938 studio-artist animation cartoons that satire a young Barks, incredible 1930s and 1940s original one-panel cartoons never before seen,  CGC-certified Barks File copies of Vacation Parade #1, issues of Uncle Scrooge and Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories, and other rare comics.

Barks’ Western Publishing invoices (also known as Remittance sheets, one of which shows what he was paid for the first Uncle Scrooge story, “Christmas on Bear Mountain”) are offered in the auction as well; among a host of other once-in-a-life-time collector’s items.

This auction also includes a few individual consignments that include Another Rainbow prints, a rare watercolor painting by Carl from “Go Slowly The Sands Of Time,” and a preliminary Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories cover design that was never used!

Weist told Scoop that interested bidders may find this auction by searching for jerryweist on eBay.

“Once you find one lot, click the ‘view seller’s other items’ button and you’ll see the entire auction,” Weist said.

Questions may be forwarded to jerryweist@comcast.net or you may call his office at (978) 283-1419.
