Captain Marvel's Seventh Sense is back, and it brought a torrent of memory flashes about a long ago investigation into a hate group called DNVR that was run by one of her relatives. She found that they were trafficking in Kree tech that was being handled by a pumped up version of the Wrecking Crew and a mysterious figure called the Desecrator. She soon learned that the Desecrator is another of her relatives who wants nothing more than to kill Captain Marvel. 

Carol Danvers has been pulled into a psychic dreamscape where the Desecrator, aka Eric, is using her memories to torture her. Moments from her past and would-be conversations with family members turn ugly quick as she navigates the house of horrors, and battles Eric. Elsewhere, a few of Captain Marvel's close friends engage in another fight while trying to find their pal. 

Captain Marvel is being put through hell so far in Captain Marvel Dark Past. Paul Jenkins has added a new unsavory element to the Danvers family with Eric and the hate group he represents. This has set Carol on course to confront her bad memories and reconcile with the negative aspects of her familial relationships – all while attempting not to get killed by a psychopath. This issue goes even deeper by revealing more details about Eric's own past that enriches an already good story.  

The art and colors by Lucas Werneck and Rod Fernandes, respectively, are top notch. Werneck chose panel angles that accentuate aspects of Carol's situation from the foreboding to the downright menacing. He also brings out the significant emotions of the characters. Fernandes' colors create a new look for the many different settings that adds to the impact of Carol's various tasks and makes the fight outside look really cool. The pair came together for a nostalgia-hitting panel that shows Carol's progression from Ms. Marvel to her current status as Captain Marvel.
