Captain America: Civil War Trailer Released
The Captain America: Civil War trailer is here! It debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live and has already generated over 3 million views on YouTube.
The trailer looks like the movie could be called Avengers 3: Minus Hulk and Thor. It opens with Steve Rogers confronting Bucky who seems caught between the man he was and the soldier he became. William Hurt is back as General Ross – who hasn’t been seen in the series since The Incredible Hulk in 2008 – to tell Steve that some people don’t look kindly on his powers and lack of supervision. He hands Steve the Sokovia Accords, a document that will pit the Avengers on two sides of an issue: should superheroes answer to the government and be held accountable for their actions?
Natasha pleads with Steve to stay out of the hunt for Bucky, knowing that his involvement will only make things worse. Enter Tony Stark/Iron Man and he’s not seeing eye to eye with Cap. At one point in the trailer we see what looks like a standoff between Iron Man and War Machine with Cap, Bucky, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch. We also see a few brief clips of Black Panther.
It concludes with a disheartening exchange between Cap and Iron Man as Cap says, “I’m sorry Tony. You know I wouldn’t do this if I had any other choice. But, he’s my friend,” to which a haggard Iron Man replies, “So was I.”
Captain America: Civil War starts Marvel’s Phase 3 of films. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the team behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it’ll hit theaters next spring on May 6, 2016. Many actors within the Marvel Universe are back, including Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Paul Bettany (Vision), among others.
