Hake’s Americana & Collectibles current auction includes several items that feature the legendary Wild West showman, “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Buffalo Bill was one of the most recognizable figures in the American Old West and ran and performed shows that displayed cowboy themes, specifically having to do with the Indian Wars.

Buffalo Bill founded “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West” show in 1883, and one of Hake’s auction items is related to that. A small thin paper ticket from the 1899 “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World” show is currently up for bidding. The show featured a number of stunts, feats of skill and staged races, and usually concluded with Buffalo Bill himself “saving” a cabin of settlers from an Indian attack. This particular ticket is signed by Buffalo Bill in pencil.

Also available for bidding in the current auction are a few different buttons, including one with an image of Cody and the location of his grave site. The button features a color portrait of the Wild West star and reads “Lookout Mountain, Colorado, Altitude 7,460 Ft.” This is the only example of this button that Hake’s has seen.

Other items include a trio of photos and a cabinet card. These items can be viewed and bid upon at Hake’s website. Bidding ends on November 13, 2014.
