BRZRKR is Back in a Vampire Pirate One-Shot
B, the half-human, half-god immortal warrior is back. The character who was co-created by actor Keanu Reeves and comic writer Matt Kindt is set to star in the one-shot, BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide. Entertainment Weekly was given the first look at the new book, which is written by Marjorie Liu (Monstress) and artist Garry Brown (The Massive).
The comic will introduce a pirate captain who hears a strange heartbeat in the ocean, and finds a box wrapped in iron chains that contains B. After he’s freed, B must help the crew when they are attacked at sea, then learns that the captain has a bounty on her head. It’s also revealed that she is hiding something – something that involves vampires.
BRZRKR is a hyper violent dramatic/action comic that tells the story of an immortal warrior who has been involved in countless conflicts and wars over the course of 80,000 years. B’s sanity and his memories are a jumbled mess, so he strikes a deal with the US government in which he will go on missions that are too dangerous for regular soldiers in exchange for their help unlocking his past.
Following the initial 12-issue series, B has starred in one-shots like BRZRKR: Poetry of Madness (in which he fought a Cthulhu-like monster in Atlantis), and BRZRKR: Fallen Empire (with B finding love in a desert empire).
The comic has also branched out into other forms of media. In 2024, Reeves and China Miéville wrote a BRZRKR novel that is a New York Times bestseller, and an anime spinoff is also in development. Reeves is set to star in a live-action film, directed by Justin Lin, who helmed several entries in the Fast and the Furious franchise.
BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide features a main cover by Brown, with variants by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Michael Dialynas, Rebeca Puebla, Khary Randolph, and others. It will arrive in comic shops on November 26, 2025.
