Ed Brubaker, the man who brought Bucky back from the dead in the pages of
Captain America and showed Matt Murdock a life behind bars in
Daredevil, is returning to his true love within the world of comics:
crime fiction. Under their Icon Imprint, Marvel Comics will be publishing
Brubaker’s creator-owned Criminal series starting this
fall.

Working with his Sleeper collaborator, artist Sean Phillips,
Brubaker brings fans stories featuring a loose knit group of criminals that
range from crooked cops to pickpockets to hit men; stories that offer readers a
little bit of everything.

Falling somewhere between Warren Ellis’
Fell and Frank Miller’s Sin City, Brubaker hopes that
Criminal will help to revitalize interest in a genre that, at one time,
out-sold superhero and western comics. And with shows like The Sopranos
still bringing in major audiences, Brubaker may just be on to
something.
