The Brooklyn Book Festival was held Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Brooklyn Borough Hall and Plaza from 10 AM to 6 PM. The free public event presented a wide array of literary stars, emerging authors, publishers and booksellers, including numerous representatives from the worlds of comics and graphic novels.

“In contrast to a traditional comic-con, the Festival also was an opportunity for professionals to gather in a relaxed, casual way, while still be in the thick of it amongst fans,” said Ed Catto, Captain Action partner. “One of the high points was the Captain Action-Moonstone booth "hosting" an impromptu panel discussion, moderated by Publisher’s Weekly’s Heidi MacDonald (“The Beat”).”

“For Captain Action, the Brooklyn Book Festival was a great awareness-building event. We were able to get the word out for our Moonstone Captain Action comic series and our new TwoMorrow’s coffee table book to both passionate comic fans and general book lovers. Surprisingly, the crowd really seemed to gravitate to the Moonstone anthologies. These feature popular, but under-exposed, characters like Kolchak and The Domino Lady in a series of short stories,” he said.
