The Slaughterverse is getting its first crossover when monster hunter Erica Slaughter meets Swamp Thing in Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children. The collaboration between BOOM! Studios and DC Comics arrives in December 2026.

Swamp Thing will enter a world in which the things that frighten children are manifested into living monsters. The 64-page one-shot comes from writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell’Edera, the co-creators of Something is Killing the Children.

“Two siblings who are life-long comics fans find their way to horror comics, in spite of the fears they inspire. As the terrifying visions from the pages of the comics start to come to life, Erica Slaughter will have to hunt down one of horror’s most recognizable figures – Swamp Thing himself!” per the description.

Swamp Thing has been in comics for over 50 years, first introduced by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson in House of Secrets #92 (July 1971). He is a tragic character who began as a promising young scientist that was transformed into a creature made of vegetable matter. In this form, Swamp Thing uses his abilities to fight scientific and supernatural threats.

Debuting in 2019, Something is Killing the Children follows Erica Slaughter as she hunts down monsters that kill children. The book was the first step in the Slaughterverse, that grew to include House of Slaughter (exploring how Erica became a monster killer), and several one-shots.

Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children features covers by Werther Dell’Edera, Jenny Frison, Boss, Morazzo, Martinez Bueno, Hayden Sherman, and Gabriele Dell’Otto. The variants include full art, virgin, foil, glow in the dark, and blank sketch in standard, green foil, and red foil.

The extra-sized one-shot will be in stores on December 2.
