Boba Fett L-Slot, Vlix Lead Star Wars Figures at Hake’s
Hake’s is the home for Star Wars action figures and related collectibles, having set records for the rarest figures. In Auction #230, they are selling nearly 200 lots of Star Wars items with many AFA graded figures and accessories from the original trilogy that covers prototypes, production pieces, highest graded examples, and rare foreign figures.
The Boba Fett rocket-firing prototype (L-slot) AFA 80+ NM is a 3-3/4” tall unpainted prototype that was made for Kenner’s 1979 toy line, though it never went into production. This differs from previous L-slots Hake’s has sold because it was part of a small batch of preproduction prototypes that were assembled as intended without the rocket-firing mechanism.
The Glasslite Star Wars: Droids – Vlix AFA 40 G is the rarest of all Star Wars figures offered commercially. The 4-1/4” figure comes from the 1988 collection that was only released in Brazil due to the cancellation of the animated series in the US.
An esoteric entry to the auction is the Turkish Blue Stars Uzay AFA 50 Q-VG. This 3-3/4” figure is a blue version of the Hoth Snowtrooper that was released in Turkey in 1988 by SB Products. It comes from a line of unlicensed bootleg figures that have attained cult status with collectors as some feature bizarre modifications and often humorous card art.
Additional highlights within the Star Wars figures are a loose first shot Han Solo (small head) AFA 75 EX+/NM, Luke Skywalker 12-back-A double-telescoping AFA 80 NM (SKU on footer), one of two known Jawa 12-back-C vinyl cape AFA 85 NM+, The Empire Strikes Back 12” series assembled box flats for R2-D2 AFA 60 Q-EX and Chewbacca AFA 75 Q-EX+/NM, and a Droids Mon Julpa first shot sales sample (Ewoks card/Barada coin) AFA ng.
