It’s twue, it’s twue! The classic soundtrack for Blazing Saddles, with music by John Morris and vocals from Frankie Lane, Madeline Kahn, and Clevon Little is now available in a limited edition of 3,000. In addition to the original soundtrack release, the CD includes instrumental bonus tracks of the score. You can order the CD from Screen Archives

Considered by many to be possibly the funniest film made in the past 40 years, Blazing Saddles was written by Mel Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, Norman Steinberg and Al Uger. From a horse that takes a punch to the famous campfire scene, the film is merciless in its lampoon of western cinema.

Few films have ever been so well served by its soundtrack. Frankie Lane’s opening vocal of “He rode a Blazing Saddle” perfectly sets the tone for what is to follow. Madeline Kahn’s “I’m Tired” captures the feeling of Marlene Dietrich and the exhaustion of a woman who is just flat out pooped. The bonus tracks include Clevon Little’s pitch perfect rendition of “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

Screen Archives still has a few remaining sets of Superman: The Movie. An 8 CD set featuring the complete music from the four films. It is a second edition, the first sold out in days, and like that famous first edition, limited to 3,000 copies. Other new releases include a 3 CD set for El Cid and the world premiere of the ambitious soundtrack for the 1984 5 hour mini-series about the origins of the modern Olympics titles The First Olympics: Athens.
