Written by Frank Miller, Elektra: Assassin showcased artist Bill Sienkiewicz’s talent in an eight-issue mini-series published under Marvel’s Epic imprint in 1986 and 1987. It followed the creators’ previous team-up on Marvel Graphic Novel #24, Daredevil: Love and War.

Miller had created Elektra in the pages of Daredevil, and Sienkiewicz had made his name on numerous projects, not the least of which was Moon Knight, one of Marvel’s first comics to be offered exclusively to the comic book specialty market.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent John Garrett, a character that was featured prominently on the first season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., was first shown on the cover of Elektra: Assassin #2.

This piece, the cover for Elektra: Assassin #4, is only the character’s second cover appearance, and it’s the first one on which he’s shown with Elektra.
