Big Apple Con Next Weekend

If you’re planning on visiting the city that never sleeps next weekend, be
sure to clear some time out to stop by Manhattan’s Penn Plaza Pavilion for Big
Apple Con. The festivities begin Friday, March 31 (beginning at 1 pm) and run
through Saturday and Sunday, April 1 & 2 from 10am to 7pm.
Tickets are available at the door for $15 per day or $40 for a 3 day pass.
Pre-registration is available and advised via email at bigapplecon@yahoo.com.
Some of the notable events which will take place at the Big Apple Comic
Book, Toy, Art and Sci-Fi Expo include a screening of the trailer for Sony
Pictures upcoming release, Silent Hill. Based on the successful video
game, Silent Hill stars Radha Mitchell, Laurie Holden, Sean Bean and
Debra Kara Unger.
Film Director and Artist Frank Miller will meet Neal Adams, in part 2 of a
continuing panel discussion. Adams will interview Miller, in a reversal of the
last panel, where Miller interviewed Adams. This fascinating exchange will take
place Sunday, April 2 at 2pm.
George Romero will be appearing all weekend and will be available for
signings, discussions and further events to be announced.
There will also be a special screening of the trailer for “Poultrygeist”
presented by Troma Entertainment. As well as a “How to Make an Independent Film”
discussion panel with the Indy Film veterans.

the DeadParker Lewis, Stargate SG1Survivor: Australian Outback;

Mayhew: “Chewbacca” – Star Wars, Chanel Ryan: FHM Model; Jasmin St.
Claire: starring in the upcoming Lion’s Gate film, Dorm Daze 2, and from
ECW Wrestling.
Featured artists include:
Gene Ha (Superman, X-Men, Batman, Green Lantern) will be making his
first New York Convention appearance ever. Gahan Wilson (National Lampoon,
The New Yorker, Playboy, Nuts!
) Will be making his first New York Convention
appearance in decades. Cutting edge comic creators Phil Jimenez, Bill Tucci,
Mark Texiera, Kyle Baker, Cliff Chiang, Toby Cypress, Rich Buckler and Tommy
Castillo.
Big Apple will also pay tribute to independent publishers past and present
with the first ever East Coast Tribute to Valiant Comics, featuring over twenty
five Valiant creators including: Howard Simpson, Jim Calafiore, Sean Chen, Mike
Bair and Rodney Ramos.
