Ben Templesmith, the artist known for co-creating and illustrating 30 Days of Night, is joining James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds as the artist on the next arc of The Department of Truth. The new chapter of the Image Comics series begins in March 2026.

In the early 1990s, something ancient is lurking in the static of cable television, and the only one taking the matter seriously is Hunky, the son of the first hunter at the field office. Hunky then learns that something evil has infiltrated an evangelical theme park in the Florida Everglades, and a woman named Charity is in the thick of the danger.

“Ben is actually one of the first-ever artists we dreamed of inviting to do a guest story arc of The Department of Truth way back when the series launched, so it’s thrilling to have him on this story that’s millions of years in the making,” Tynion said. “He’s been a natural fit for our messed up little world and we can’t wait for readers to see what we’ve been building these last few months. Not only will we be digging up the buried history of one of the Department’s legacy families, we’ll also be revealing the evangelical origins of Charity, the deadliest new member of Lee’s crew. Also dinosaurs. Lots of dinosaurs.”

“I am that child you shouldn’t give scissors to, because I’m clearly going to run around with them. But it’s hellishly fun to run around with what James and Martin have done with The Department of Truth and let me have a little go. It’s been a blast!” Templesmith said.

Department of Truth #36 comes with a cover A by Martin Simmonds, cover B 1:10 incentive by Templesmith, cover C 1:25 incentive by Chloe Brailsford, and cover D Invincible team-up. It will be in comic shops on March 25.
