DC; $3.99

Batwoman is aggressively going after the Dark Faith, much to the concern of its members and her father. She is uncharacteristically leaving behind a trail of bodies and recklessly throwing herself in danger in the process. The Question, aka Kate's ex-girlfriend Renee Montoya, has come to Petalon to find out what is happening and possibly save Kate from herself.

Greg Rucka started the new Batwoman series by writing an issue about the emotional demons she faces. Kate feels mountains of regret over what happened to her sister, Beth, who turned into the demented villain, Alice. The next two issues put artist Dani and colorist Matt Hollingsworth in the drivers seat for chase scenes and bloody fights, while Rucka laid the foundation for the Dark Faith.

In this one, the creative team revisits significant moments in Kate's past when she is confronted by Renee. Mother Despina and her bad guy group reveal more details for their plans, and there's a big twist that makes certain incongruent story elements make complete sense. The hook in this issue gives the story good momentum and groundwork for future issues.
