Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles (DST), along with Art Asylum and
Universal Studios, announced this week that they have entered into a
licensing/manufacturing agreement regarding products based on the Sci-Fi
Channel’s hit show, Battlestar Galactica.

The agreement will allow
Art Asylum to produce/develop the resin collectibles and Minimate figures based
on both the classic series and the modernized series, while DST handles the
marketing and sales end for the new line. With designs well underway for the
line of collectibles, DST and Art Asylum will be releasing a complete line of
block figure Minimates, as well as a line of mini-busts featuring key characters
from both generations of Battlestar.

“With Battlestar
Galactica
, it was an incredibly easy decision to make when Art Asylum
approached us,” said Michael Leavey, Marketing and Sales Supervisor at
DST. “Art Asylum quickly added it to their library of properties and, as
with our Star Trek line, we immediately began talks to help produce the
highest quality products possible.”

Prototypes of the first wave of
Battlestar Galactica Minimates were debuted during February’s American
International Toy Fair in New York and are set to ship later this
year.
