Baltimore Comic-Con Adds More Guests
joined the guest list for this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con, Marc Nathan, the
show’s promoter, told Scoop this week. As a team, the brothers have
worked on Ultra and Girls for image and Spider-Woman:
Origin for Marvel.
Tommy Castillo (Toe Tags, Batman)
and Jim Calafiore (Exiles) have also joined the show’s roster of
creators.
“We’re continuing our efforts to bring together a diverse
line-up of creators, all of whom love comics, with an appeal to just about every
type of comic book fan, said Nathan. “And even though we’ve been
announcing new guests for months, we’re not done yet!”
Two weeks
ago the convention, Diamond Comic Distributors and Alliance Game Distributors
announced plans for this year’s convention and Retailer Summits.
The
convention and the Baltimore edition of the Diamond-Alliance summits will both
be held at the Baltimore Convention Center, with the convention running Saturday
and Sunday, September 9-10 and the Summit operating Monday and Tuesday,
September 11 and 12. An additional Summit is planned for Ft. Wayne, Indiana
Saturday and Sunday, October 14 – 15, at the Grand Wayne Convention
Center.
A Commitment To Our Roots (ACTOR) is sponsoring Marvel
legends Dick Ayers, John Romita, Sr. and John Romita, Jr. at the show, and
Gemstone Publishing is bringing Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck
writer-artist Don Rosa.
Additional creators scheduled to attend include

Following the convention’s programming
on Saturday night, September 9, will be the Harvey Awards. Details on ticket
sales for the event, which features the only industry awards voted on
exclusively by comics industry professionals in recognition of their peers, will
be announced shortly.
Beginning after the convention concludes, the
Diamond Comic Distributors – Alliance Game Distributors Retailer Summits are
widely recognized as significant gatherings of the industry’s top retailers of
new products.
An open house at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum at Camden
Yards, located immediately across the street from the Baltimore Convention
Center, is among the planned Summit events in Baltimore. ICv2.com reported that
more than 550 retailers from 350 stores attended the Baltimore edition of the
Summits last year.
