Baltimore Comic-Con Adds Chaykin, Hall, Hildebrandt & the Simonsons
The Baltimore Comic-Con is building their guest list for the next convention with some big names in comics. Scheduled for October 28-30, 2022, at the Baltimore Convention Center, the con will host Howard Chaykin, Bob Hall, Greg Hildebrandt, Louise Simonson, and Walter Simonson.
As a writer and artist, Chaykin is considered one of the architects of modern comics, known for creating American Flagg!. His credits include Micronauts, Star Wars, Weird War Tales, Blade, and Punisher War Journal, among many others.
Hall has had a long association with Marvel as the artist on many of their major books and characters. His work has been seen in The Champions, Spider-Man, Conan, Thor, The Fantastic Four, The Sub-Mariner, Captain America, The Avengers, and The New Mutants.
As an artist, Hildebrandt and his brother Tim illustrated the first of a series of Lord of the Rings calendars and created a movie poster for Star Wars: A New Hope. He has painted covers for Star Wars comics, Deadpool, Secret Wars, Black Panther, and Thor. More recently he has been painting movie posters for classic films like King Kong.
Louise Simonson worked as an editor at Warren Publishing then moved on to Marvel as editor on X-Men, New Mutants, and Star Wars. She has written for Marvel Team-Up, Web of Spider-Man, and Red Sonja, and introduced Apocalypse in X-Factor. She also worked on Superman: The Man of Steel and The Adventures of Superman at DC.
Walter Simonson is a writer and artist who has worked on titles like Weird War Tales, Manhunter, Metal Men, Orion, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Vigilante, and Hercules Unbound. At Marvel, he had notable runs on The Rampaging Hulk magazine, X-Factor, Fantastic Four, and Thor.
“What a tremendous addition to our show,” Baltimore Comic-Con show promoter Marc Nathan said. “The collective résumé of these guests could overwhelm any fan trying to figure out what items they want autographed, and getting a chance to meet and interact with these legends of industry is such a great opportunity. 2022 is shaping up to be an amazing year for the Baltimore Comic-Con!”
