Baltimore Comic-Con Adds Buckingham, Kitson, McLeod, Waid
On October 28-30, 2022, the Baltimore Comic-Con will return to the Baltimore Convention Center in Inner Harbor. Well ahead of the event, they have started building the guest list, which now includes Mark Buckingham, Barry Kitson, Bob McLeod, and Mark Waid.
Best known for his work on Vertigo’s Fables, Buckingham started his career in 1990 with Neil Gaiman on Miracleman at Eclipse. He became a mainstay at DC for his work on titles like 2000 AD, Hellblazer, and Shade, the Changing Man. After he took over art duties on Fables, he earned four Eisner Awards for his work.
Kitson’s career began with work on Spider-Man for Marvel UK. Since then, he has worked on a variety of titles including Judge Dredd for 2000 AD; Batgirl, Adventures of Superman, Shadow of the Bat, JLA Year One, The Titans, and Legion of Super-Heroes for DC Comics; and Wolverine, Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four, and The Amazing Spider-Man for Marvel.
McLeod is best known for co-creating and illustrating Marvel’s The New Mutants. Throughout his career, he has penciled or inked major titles for Marvel and DC, including Spider-Man, The X-Men, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, GI Joe, Star Wars, The Hulk, and Conan. He also wrote and illustrated the Superhero ABC children’s book, edited and wrote articles for Twomorrow’s Rough Stuff magazine, and taught art at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.
A multi-time Harvey and Eisner Award winner, Waid has had acclaimed runs on DC’s The Flash, Kingdom Come, JLA, Legion of Super-Heroes, and Superman: BirthrightCaptain America, Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man, and DaredevilIncorruptible and IrredeemableArchie. He is also known for his creator-owned works, Empire and Potter’s Field, and for serving as publisher of Humanoids.
“It is so fantastic to have these gentlemen back with us in 2022,” Baltimore Comic-Con show promoter Marc Nathan said. “These four individuals are responsible for such an amazing body of work within the comics oeuvre, from historic runs on key titles to stunning standalone stories. It’s going to be an amazing weekend in 2022, and having everyone at the show just serves to underline that statement!”
