Back to the Future Part II made many, many predictions about the future when it was released on November 22, 1989. One of the nuggets in the movie was an issue of USA Today.

Commemorating Marty McFly’s trip to 2015, Thursday’s edition of USA Today features the cover from the movie. The futuristic looking USA Today depicts the modified logo from the movie with the lead article announcing that Martin McFly Jr. has been arrested for theft.

The cover boasts a readership of 3 billion people, an article on cholesterol being the cure for cancer, 3 were injured when a mom rehydrated pizza, and Hollywood was remaking A Match Made in Space by George McFly, plus a cheeky piece on public gullibility. It also has pieces on Slamball playoffs, an opinion piece on 3D billboards, a man is killed by litter thrown from a hovering vehicle, a pitcher is suspended for his uncalibrated bionic arm, and 2016 hoverboard models are on the way.

Some of the predictions could come true or are close it. On the cover the Cubs sweep the series – the team is currently in the playoffs, the President of the United States is a woman – which could happen if Hillary Clinton has her way, and there’s a review of Jaws 19 – there may not be 19 installments of the killer shark franchise, but we sure do love sequels.
