Marvel’s original plan to premiere the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was foiled following a leak of the international version. Though it was originally scheduled to premiere in the U.S. during the October 28, 2014 episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel bumped up the premiere to the evening of October 22.

Marvel’s response was clever: following a message from their Twitter account (@Marvel) that said “Dammit, Hydra,” they released a high-definition version of the trailer on their official YouTube page. The trailer shows a lot while still maintaining a sense of secrecy; it also gives audiences the first look at Ultron himself.

The rush-released teaser trailer was filled with quick cuts of action, haggard looking Avengers, more city sized destruction, and – did anybody else see ballerinas about 1 minute, 35 seconds in? Set over the unsettling tone of James Spader’s so confident it sounds lazy voice, the Avengers are in for a world of hurt from the robot created by Tony Stark that has gone completely bananas. We’re also treated to a few glimpses of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, respectively, and Andy Serkis, the master of motion capture, in the flesh. Oh, there’s also Captain America’s shield broken in half.

On YouTube the trailer is on the cusp of 8 million views and over 23,000 comments in 11 hours.
