Following weeks that have seen the daily announcements of team members for the Avengers, the New Avengers and the Secret Avengers, this week Marvel Comics has been hitting with something new, Avengers Academy.

Whether it pans out or not, without any of the details, we can say our first thought was that it has a distinctly early New Mutants feel to it.

On top of that, Avengers Academy #1 has a great creative team. We’ve been happily telling anyone who will listen about writer Christos Gage since he first came to our attention on the Deadshot mini-series in 2005. Partnering him up with the talented Mike McKone sounds cool to us, so we’re really looking forward to this one!
