Auctioneer Tonya A. Cameron Joins MaxSold
Boston-area auctioneer and auction house owner Tonya A. Cameron is expanding her professional horizons and joining the management team at MaxSold, a Canada-based firm that specializes in online estate and business-liquidation auctions.
In her capacity as regional manager for MaxSold in New England, Cameron will be visiting with clients at their homes or business locations to assess estates, collections and other auction consignments. Additionally, she will be working closely with trust and estate officers.
Cameron’s own company of 15 years, TAC Auctions, will continue to produce live auction events, but the number of sales will be reduced to four per year, starting with a winter 2013 sale. Her new position with MaxSold will require extensive travel throughout New England, Cameron said, so she is vacating the Wakefield gallery that has served most recently as TAC’s headquarters.
TAC’s last sale at the 37 Water Street gallery is slated for Tuesday, September 10, and the company’s final day at the venue will be September 30. Going forward, all TAC auctions will be conducted at local function halls.
“Rather than holding auctions as frequently as I have in the past, I will now conduct only four auctions per year with a focus on better-quality consignments,” Cameron explained. “I will also continue with my own appraisal and charity-auction work.”
Cameron said she believes MaxSold is a company with an unlimited future. “It’s expanding rapidly in the United States and offers a service that fills a void, particularly with seniors, near-retirees or people of any age who wish to simplify their lives by downsizing.”
The MaxSold business model brings the experts to the consignor, Cameron said. “An experienced team is sent out to photograph and catalog the goods, including items that would not be cost effective to pack and move, as would be the case with a traditional auction. MaxSold auctions are run entirely online.”
