Marvel Comics; $2.99

Anytime a creator has a chance to take an
almost-throw-away character and turn him into something compelling, it’s
intriguing to see how they handle the challenge. Michael Avon Oeming
(Cross-Bronx, Powers) has really found something in Ares. With his other Marvel
writing, he had some fun and told some entertaining tales with established
characters. For Ares, he carved out things we’ve never known and invited us into
his world. We’re looking forward to more and have no doubt we’ll be seeing Ares
around the Marvel universe for some time to come.
